Satellite Systems (Multiswitch - HeadEnd - IPTV)

MMATV stands for Master Antenna Television. A MATV system enables TV and FM signals to be distributed to a large number of TV receivers, as opposed to individual antennas for each TV. In simple terms, an MATV system is a network of cables and specifically designed components that process and amplify TV and FM signals, then distribute them from one central location. MATV systems are separated into two parts, the ‘Head End’ and the ‘Distribution System’. It is essential to carefully plan and engineer both parts using the best MATV equipment and best practice installation techniques to ensure video and audio signals are distributed with minimal loss of quality.

SMATV

SMATV Head End The Head End of a MATV system usually consists of an antenna which receives broadcast signals, processing equipment to filter the signals and a distribution amplifier to amplify the signals to compensate for distribution losses. Antennas, amplifiers, taps, filters and attenuators are used in this part of the system..

Headend solutions for all kinds of SMATV applications - Worldwide

A headend system can be an extremely rational and inexpensive way of offering variety and quality to the subscribers in a multi dwelling network. But the value to subscribers is totally dependent on the flexibility of the headend system.

IPTV

IPTV refers to Internet-based Protocol Television where internet is used to deliver TV programs & Videos that are either live or on demand. IPTV is a system where digital television service is delivered to the subscriber through Internet protocol technology via the medium of broadband or internet connection. It is slightly different from digital video that is accessed by millions of users on sites or apps like YouTube or Netflix, but it shares quite a bit of the same ubiquitous, pervasive nature. Also unlike standard cable or satellite connection, in IPTV multiple TV sets can use a single subscription within a home. IPTV gives the viewers the added advantage and convenience of being able to pick the program they want to watch whenever and wherever they feel like watching it apart from tuning into any Live TV shows that are being aired currently.

Multiswitch Systems

For larger installations a quattro LNB is used in conjunction with a multiswitch. The quattro LNB provides the signals for all four of the modes at the same time. The multiswitch then selects which of these signals to send to each receiver . For very large installations the signals from the LNB can be split and fed to more than one multiswitch. Typically a larger dish is used to make up for the extra losses in the longer cable runs and the multiswitches.

Head End Station

A headend is a facility that accepts TV signals as input from satellites, processes them into cable-quality signals, and then distributes them to homes and cable networks. It can be considered as the master distribution center where incoming television signals are received, selected, amplified and re-modulated, and sent for transmission to cable networks.

Satellite Signal Over Fiber Optic
The distribution of satellite signals via fiber optic cables offers technical and economic advantages, especially for larger distances / distribution networks and a large variety of programmes. In addition to the high data capacity and the almost loss-free signal transmission, the quick installation and reliability of pre-assembled fiber optic cables play a decisive role.
